Context
In the context of Molenbeek, a significant number of (social) housing units within the urban fabric are identified as urgently requiring renovation. Logement Molenbeekois, is dedicated to the comprehensive revitalization of these units, focusing on essential aspects such as fire safety, domestic gas hazards, and compliance of electrical installations. The challenge of this comprehensive project is its complexity in the diversity of typologies and their specifications, the sheer number of housing units affected and its unique social aspects involved. Further, the renovations will take place while its inhabitants continue to reside in their homes, demanding a sensitive approach to assist the socio-economically vulnerable demographic and their needs. This intervention is fundamentally geared towards enhancing the living conditions of the residents and a commitment to creating safer and adequate housing units.
Mission
Through an expertise in consultation in often complex projects processes with multi-stakeholders, we guarantee a real understanding of needs to move a project forward, while remaining mindful of the social dynamics on a site. Thus, our mission centers around social assistance prior, during and after the project realization. Through providing individual and collective support to enhance the transition period and address challenges for residents we aim to ensure renovations are perceived as an improvement in their quality of life. By acting as a bridge between inhabitants and renovation partners, we facilitate information exchange to foster understanding and collaboration between these two groups.
Approach
Having gained a deep understanding and previous knowledge in the Brussels but also Molenbeek context, the project approach is inherently multidisciplinary and participatory. Through in-depth field research utilizing diverse methodologies, a profound understanding of the local context is established. This creates a solid foundation for our approach on offering an individual and collective project assistance. The long-term commitment will create trust networks, through on-site presence, actively engaging with residents collectively and individually. We organize festive collective moments and address specific cases individually, employing qualitative exchanges through door-to-door visits, phone communication, and visual methods for easy comprehension of technical information. By accumulating individual testimonials, our goal is to gain a more nuanced understanding of the reality on the ground and the tenants' state of mind.
